If you have read Jacks post: He lies, I crush him at Bad Tommy and when he wins, he barely wins.
This week when we were leaving Yellowstone we decided to stop in the national forest 🌳 to see a visitor center because Daddy wanted to know why there were dead trees standing in the water. We didn’t know what it was about until we watched a very interesting film 🎥 about it. Abridged version: a huge earthquake broke off a gigantic peace of a mountain ⛰ causing a landslide. It was the peak of the tourism season and a bunch of campers where trapped by the slide. Three hundred people were evacuated and twenty nine killed, some people were crushed in their tents, some managed to escape, others tried to drive away in the middle of the night when the roads were either destroyed or blocked by the rocks 🪨. The landslide caused a dam several hundred feet tall!
Fun fact: Before the earthquake cormorants were not found in that part of the river but after it was dammed and the trees died leaving leafles branches and petrifying wood they flocked to the area landing on the trees!
This week we also went to Virginia City, we explored the ghost town while having ice cream 🍦 and went in a bunch of shops, one of them being a nice little candy shop.
This week we also tried to go to the Smokejumper Visitor Center and we arrived at the right time to get in but it wasn’t open!
That’s all for this week!
Great blog!
Aleah, we all know the girls are the real champs of badtommy! 😆
