Today we checked out of the house we have lived in for five years. The house that saw our kids grow into teenagers (ish) and form some of the closest friendships one can have in life. The check-out was something I have been stressing about since before we gave notice a month ago. We decided to clean the house ourselves (the company offers a “pay us to clean” option) and have been slowly chipping away at the tasks over the past week. I figured we would be camping out in the house without our things for a week, what else do we have to do?! Check-out was a breeze. Maybe it was those four years of monthly room inspections that caused me to be a stickler for details when given a check-list. Whatever it was, I am thankful and now ready for the next steps in our plan.

It has rained for three days. We are not comfortable in our ability to drive the RV and truck and put it exactly where we want/need it to be, so today we had to quickly change plans on where we were headed first. We have a few local area plans, so need to stay close to DC, however, camping close to DC is difficult. I called Joint Base Andrews to see if they had availability for us. I was just about laughed off the phone. My next call was to Ft Belvoir. THEY HAD SPACE! I quickly reserved the spot and we moved forward with plans based around a new base in VA for a few days.
