Kayaking Abel Tasman

Our first stop on the South Island was the national park, Abel Tasman. We booked a full day kayak adventure to get out and see the NZ fur seals and amazing rugged scenery up close.

We loaded ourselves and our kayaks onto a water taxi that was still on a boat trailer. Then a large tractor drove us into the sea for the launch and we were off!

The tour over delivered with a seal almost bumping into our kayaks because it was busy cleaning itself AND a blue penguin swimming around.
After those sightings, our guide lead us to a hidden entrance on a river and we paddled up steam into a different world from Oceanside Abel Tasman. The weather was perfect and the seas were calm until the wind began to pick up in the end, but no worries, we broke out the spinnaker to sail back into the beach and catch our water taxi home.
