The campground we are staying at does not have a pool or beach nearby, instead there is a swimming hole.
It’s just a wider, deeper and more accessible section of a small river that goes along the mountain, but it is still very fun. We have gone there twice, technically three, but the first time we never got in the water, we just checked it out. There is a slab of concrete that sticks out into the water and a very fun rope swing that is kind of dangerous.
The hole is also a great place to fish, not to catch fish but to fish. The river is stocked weekly with rainbow trout, which is one of the hardest kinds of fish to catch.
They are suspicious, flighty and smart, which makes them really annoying to try and get. One good thing did come of trying to catch them though, I learned how to tie a fishing knot! Since Dad didn’t know how to he suggested that I download a YouTube video on how to do it, which worked out quite well.
We also went down a natural water slide today. It was really just a waterfall that wasn’t too steep to be super dangerous. When we got there the line wasn’t too long, but by the time we left it wasn’t even in the actual line. I only went down twice, but Aleah went down five times.
There were three lifeguards to make sure everyone was following the rules. Mostly they just whistled at people who stood up at the top of the waterfall, but there was one guy who almost drowned, but they saved him. There was also a dog in the lifeguard station who looked like he wanted to save someone every time they went down the slide. As you can see, there are many fun activities around Pisgah mountain at Davidson River Campground, near Asheville, NC.
Looks like a lot if fun, and a little scary!
