A Problem Fixed

We left Camp Lejeune today and headed to Kure Beach, further down the North Carolina coast. However, we made a stop before we left the town of Jacksonville, NC at Collins Welding Service.

Is it a good shop if there isn’t a ton of metal laying around outside?

Mr. Collins was confident that he could fix our messed up bumper and ensure that it wouldn’t happen again. First step, cut off the weak old bumper.

We had barely stepped away before he was out grinding on the bumper.

Next step, install a bumper made of thicker metal and reinforce it with some metal supports to help with the bounce of the rough roads.

While Chris went to pay for the 90 minutes of work (amazingly fast!), I asked one of the workers about a tack weld that had come undone from the rear stairs. He told me that it wasn’t much of a concern because it was not structural, but he was happy to throw a quick tack back on it to fix it.

We left the shop excited that we had found a place that was able to help us and that it didn’t affect our plans in the least.

Many thanks to the welders, you have a great skill. However, I hope I don’t need your services again any time soon!
