A Day the Kids Enjoyed

The kids asked to take Friday “off” from early wake-ups, museums, hikes, etc. We agreed and scheduled a day that was to be anything they wanted to do. Their major idea was to take the Jackson Hole tram to the top of the ski mountain and walk around the area. But Aleah insisted that it was to occur “after lunch.”

After morning coffee, Chris went outside to work on a few maintenance items. We had caught another nail in a trailer tire, but after removing it and bringing it to the shop we learned that our problem was greater than a tire puncture. We also had a cracked wheel. Of course the shop did not have another wheel that would fit the trailer, so we have put on one of our spares and will look to complete this job in the future. Luckily Chris was prepared!

Steel wheel for the win!

Our other item was to investigate the source of a wet spot we had noticed under the RV last night. We had a slow drip in our water connection from the campground and we’re concerned that that had escaped into the belly of the RV, so we secured water and started removing the spray-in expanding foam in order to look into the belly of the RV and hopefully dry things out. I wasn’t long into that project when a lot of water started pouring out. This was definitely not a fresh water leak.

Subsequent removal of a lot of the under-belly, and getting wet and dirty revealed that our shower grey tank had a small crack in it and would only leak when very full. Chris, prepared as always, had plastic repair epoxy and we placed that over the crack. Hopefully we solved our problem, but we will also endeavor to drain the tank before it gets to that level!

Now to dry out everything so no mold forms.

The kids got the day they wanted, though all these things took us so long we missed riding the tram. Ultimately the kids just wanted a day of doing nothing and that is what they did.
