Today, we pulled into the port of Kahului and wasted no time in starting our adventure. After renting a car, we headed straight to Haleakalā National Park. We stopped at both visitor centers, where we learned about the park’s unique features—like the amazing silversword plant, which only blooms once in its life before it dies. Aleah was excited to earn another Junior Ranger badge, adding to her growing collection.
The scenery was breathtaking, and it brought back memories for Regan and me. The last time we visited Haleakalā, it was just the two of us, and we were there for a sunrise—completely unprepared for how cold it would be! We laughed about it as we explored the park together as a family this time.
For lunch, we stopped at STEWZ BURGERS, where we had an awesome meal, and naturally, I made yet another cat friend. It doesn’t matter where we go—cats always seem to have a radar for me, knowing I’m allergic and deciding to make me their favorite person. Sure enough, one sauntered over, curled up next to me, and settled in for the long haul. It’s like I’m wearing a sign that says, “Cat Magnet (With Allergies).” At this point, it’s just part of the adventure!
To top off the day, I squeezed in a wingfoil session at Kanaha Beach Park. It’s the most famous wingfoiling and kitesurfing spot in the world, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to get out on the water.
