Harry Potter – movie star

We recently went to the WB studio’s Harry Potter exhibit where they filmed and prepared all 8 movies. On the bus ride there (the bus was a double decker bus!) we watched thrilling scenes from the movies and some upcoming movie trailers on the in-bus television as well as hearing about WB studios!!!

Welcome to Hogwarts

When we checked in with our tickets, there was some confusion that got us worried we wouldn’t be able to get in. We eventually found out what was wrong and got in, but it took longer than expected. The problem was that we had ordered tickets for the wrong day and then returned them to get new tickets. We got the new tickets but the system said they were the returned tickets or something along those lines. We got a tiny tour at the beginning going over some rules and such. The fun thing was how the “tour” was given. The wall was the tour giver for the most part! Screens were put up in the room to make it look like the pictures were talking.

Along with the tour we were reminded to take a trivia booklet to fill out. Located near the answers to the questions there were embossed stamps to add to the booklet. I actually wouldn’t give the booklet a good review. I found the questions too easy or too obscure. In the booklet there were also poor instructions to find some golden snitches around the area, which could have been fun if more than half of the snitches appeared when looked for.

While around one area there were some interactive buy-your-photo opportunities such as riding a broomstick, using a green-screen animation video. There was also a wanted poster photo offered, but we opted against any of it, deciding to take our own photos elsewhere.

I can control a broom!

We were very impressed by how small everything looked in Hogsmeade and some other places throughout the studio. We were interested to learn that an exact scale model had been built of each large house or room so that when it was built full sized it was assured to work with the scene.

It was all very interesting and the gift shop was stellar! We bought a few things and headed out.

Off to my train!
