The PNW

Fun on ferries

Twenty years ago, Chris and I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. It is especially easy to love it when the sun is shining and the weather is warm! We are trying our hand at “mooch docking” at our friend’s house. We first met Ariel and Kristen in Hawaii and as luck would have it they have plenty of space for us to park the RV in their driveway. Mooch docking is when you are living in your RV, but using power, water, and sewer from a house.

Blomshield and Tipton families (minus young Tipton girls)

Our first weekend on Whidbey, we jumped on a ferry to head to the Olympic Peninsula and visit with our friend Sarah and her family. We last saw Sarah’s family nine years ago while on an epic west coast roadtrip, and we were excited to reconnect.

Cool kids

Our kids immediately hit it off and the rest is history. Hopefully it won’t be another nine years before we get together!

Chris looks like he belongs at sea!

The rest of our time has been spent exploring Whidbey Island and hanging out with Kristen, Ariel and Gus (their son). Unfortunately there has been no wind, so Chris has not had a chance to wingfoil here, but he and Ariel went on a four day boat camping trip to the San Juan Islands.

The kids have participated in a weekly homeschool PE class and explored the local beach and some state historic sites. They are helping out around the house by feeding the chickens and collecting eggs. We are also working hard to finish our summer homeschool courses, so we can start our new courses after our east coast trip.
