From the get-go we have had tire problems. Luckily we were prepared for those with two spares and a great air compressor. However, the day finally arrived where we needed to do more. While pulling in to our current campground in Idaho, I noticed a bald patch on one of our trailer tires. We had been watching the tred for a while and knew we would probably get new tires in October while parked at the farm, but this accelerated our need. The rest of the tire had fine tred, but for some reason this two inch diameter circle of bald appeared.
Chris made a call to Les Schwab Tire Center as soon as they opened in the morning and we were in luck! Not only did they have the tires we wanted at the store, but they also had availability to do the job as soon as we showed up. We woke the kids, repacked the RV and headed to the town of Rathdrum, Idaho, about 20 minutes away.
The people were wonderful and were able to quickly get new shoes (tires) on the rig and even recommended a great diner for us to grab breakfast while they completed the work.
It turns out that we made the right call to get the tires taken care of before putting more miles on them. Not only was the one with a bald spot starting to fail and the wire plies come through the rubber, but the same was happening with a second one.
Hopefully these new ones last us more than 12,000 miles!
