It is HOT here. We had plans last night to stay in a Cracker Barrel parking lot in order to break up our 7.5 hr drive between the NC mountains and Mammoth Cave, KY.
We parked at the restaurant, received permission to stay through the night and developed a plan for the rest of the day. First on the agenda: laundry! Luckily, we were an easy walk from a laundromat.
While waiting for our clothing to finish, we began to appreciate how hot it was in a building that had AC. We also started noticing the news broadcast about the extreme heat for the rest of the week. These two things together made us reassess our desire to spend the evening in our tin can (aka RV) with no power.
We made a few calls and quickly pivoted to drive another 2.5 hrs to Mammoth Cave, cancelled our National Park campground (with no supplied utilities) and are now resting much more comfortably in our ACed RV.
Todays project is to install Reflectix insulation in all the windows in order to help our AC system and stay even cooler during the worst part of the day.
